not a bad idea. just "1" thing': the average American(not middle class, or previous middle class) ,myself included, does not have the xtra maybe $300 +/- that it will cost for 5-6 yr. monthly payments, plus much higher car insurance monthly payments for this new " economical auto". wait... I forgot.. how many of " us" have enough for the down payment, hopefully enough to keep the monthly note from "going thru the roof".
